Week 1 Updates for Spring Semester

Pack Nine News - The Official Newsletter of Nevada Men's Golf

Nevada Men’s Golf Supporters,

The warm, dry winter has made for a great opening week to the spring semester! We’ve been able to get outside each day and have seen obvious improvement from the team over the last week as they brush off some rust from winter break. Q-School will begin next week, and we are 3 weeks out from our season opener in Palm Springs.

The boys had a great time on opening weekend getting rounds in at Winchester, Stanford, and Harding Park. We also had some solid practice time at Stanford’s golf facility and treated the team to their favorite Korean BBQ dinner. A couple of them also enjoyed their speed gained during winter break from using The Stack System.

Weekends like this are a result of those who help us supplement our operating budget. Any gift made directly to our program immediately enhances the experience for our student-athletes. We are currently focusing our fundraising efforts on the following:

Travel Additional Players or Support Staff - $1,000-2,500 (each occurrence)

A lot of tournaments allow us to bring more than just the top 5 players who count towards the team score. Every opportunity we get to travel additional players is crucial for their development.

We are also working to expand coverage of the team while at home and at tournaments, and will be looking to travel additional staff to increase the amount of quality content we can pass along to you all.

Lie/Loft Machine - $2,500 (one-time)

With the volume of shots our guys are getting in each week (especially when off mats), lies and lofts can quickly change on irons. We are looking to put a lie/loft machine in the office so we can handle checking and adjusting clubs regularly in-house.

Supplemental Nutrition - $5,000 (per semester)

Current rules allow us to feed the team with few restrictions. A lot of guys are currently working on gaining mass in an effort to increase strength and clubhead speed. We have set up a program to be able to assist them with groceries and additional meals, and will allocate funds to them as we raise them.
